Islands of Insight Gameplay FAQ

How do you play a particular puzzle? I don’t know how to complete a particular puzzle.

While the game lets you discover the rules by yourself, if needed, you can navigate to the Encyclopedia tab for more information about a particular puzzle. You can also interact with the blue Guidestones on the tutorial island for hints on how to tackle the first few puzzles you encounter.:

Note that we do not provide puzzle tips through any channels. We encourage players to try different strategies as there are different ways to approach a puzzle.

Can I play Island of Insight with friends?

Islands of Insight is a shared world that allows seamless interaction between players and friends. You will be able to interact with other players and friends playing on the same map, however, you can't select to play in the same server as your friends.

Am I able to chat with other players?

No, you will not be able to chat with other players in-game. However, you may interact with them by either placing markers or by emotes. This menu can be found by pressing ‘G’ and selecting the marker or emote that you would like to convey. Individual actions are also bound to the number keys by default.

By pressing 'E' you may also select who to interact with - Everyone, Friends and party, or Party only.

Can I play in a world by myself?

Islands of Insight is a shared world that allows for a seamless connection with others without ever being intrusive to your own solo journey. This is your adventure and can be played entirely solo.

The social interactions were designed to offer a sense of camaraderie and belonging inside the game and to be non-intrusive to your solo journey.

We have recently announced that there will be an offline mode in the coming months, which would allow you to explore the world without other users,  you can read more about it here.

Can other players block my path? Or get in front of my puzzles? Spoil puzzles for me?

Other players can’t join your puzzles, can’t push you to go faster, or block your path. Your puzzle progression is your own, even if you’re playing with friends on the same server.  This is your adventure.

Can I play Islands of Insight offline?
